In 2007-08, the Majors partnered up with the Mississauga Hockey League for an extensive mentoring program known as “Future Majors”. Majors coach James Boyd ran practices, and provided follow-up advice for MHL coaches within the Minor Novice to Atom Green and Blue categories. Last year, Coach Boyd visited approximately 35 Mississauga Hockey League teams and helped players and coaches alike improve their skills.
Last year Tim Hortons signed on as Title Sponsor of the program and as an added bonus, provided participating teams with 30 FREE tickets to a Majors game. Throughout the program, Coach James Boyd and Majors players attended nearly 50 practices throughout the season.
For the 2011-12 season, the Tim Hortons Future Majors program will be open to Tyke to Novice categories. As part of the program this season, each team participating in the program will also be given 30 Red-Level seating tickets to a Majors regular season home game during 2011-12, courtesy of Tim Hortons.
