GREG SUTCH GOES TO THE BUFFALO SABRES IN THE FIFTH ROUND

Majors forward Greg Sutch has been selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round of today’s NHL Entry Draft. Sutch was ranked 101 among North American skaters heading into the draft.

Sutch came to the Majors in a major trade last summer with the Sarnia Sting. The Majors sent forwards Kale Kerbashian and Kyle Neuber along with three draft picks to Sarnia in exchange for Sutch. Greg was Sarnia’s first round pick in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection and amassed 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points in his rookie season. The strong power forward also served 53 penalty minutes.

Unfortunately for Sutch, his first season in Mississauga was plagued by injuries which limited him to 43 games. While in the line up, he chipped in with 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points. He will be a key piece of the 2010-11 Majors as the team works towards the 2011 Mastercard Memorial Cup.
